Key features of this LG 55-inch C5 Series TV
Alpha 9 AI Processor Gen8
This is essentially the brain of the TV, and it leverages AI to optimize picture and audio quality. This particular processor is specifically tailored for OLEDs and helps deliver improved contrast and color; however, where it really shines is its ability to enhance brightness beyond what you’d expect from your more standard options. This helps the C5 be much more appropriate for well-lit rooms than earlier OLED models, which weren’t typically as bright.
144Hz refresh rate and 0.1ms response time
This TV has a very high refresh rate and low response time, which makes it closer in some respects to a 4K gaming monitor. Paired with a high-end gaming PC or console, this TV will let you game at up to 144fps in 4K, and its low response time reduces motion blur and ghosting.
G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium
Both of these are essential if you’re gaming, as they eliminate screen tearing and stutter when framerates go up and down. FreeSync Premium, in particular, includes low-framerate compensation, which keeps everything running smoothly when fps drops below the TV’s minimum refresh rate.

Things to consider
This TV is fantastic, but if you’re after something with similar gaming features, for less, then it’s worth exploring some of Hisense’s and TCL’s mini-LED TVs. Both of these brands go pretty hard on gaming features, opting for FreeSync Premium, 144Hz, ALLM, and more with their TVs, but without the huge price tag. Mini-LED TVs are also very bright as standard, and while they can run into a little haloing in high contrast scenes, they’re still very impressive for the price.
