If you are building a top-of-the-line PC in 2026, storage isn’t just about how much space you have anymore; it’s about how fast everything runs. The Crucial T710 PCIe Gen5 2TB SSD is currently on sale for $289.14, an 11% drop from its usual $324 price. While this isn’t the lowest price we’ve ever tracked for this SSD, it’s a strong deal for anyone tired of waiting on loading bars or slow video renders.

Crucial T710 PCIe Gen5 NVMe 2TB SSD

Up to 14,900 MB/s, Laptop & Desktop Compatible (PC), for Creatives and Hardcore Gamers, Solid State Drive, Includes 1Mo Adobe CC – CT2000T710SSD8-01

The T710 is part of the newest wave of Gen5 drives that focus on high-efficiency Micron NAND. It delivers staggering sequential read speeds of up to 14,500 MB/s, which is essentially double what the best Gen4 drives could manage. For enthusiasts who have already secured a PCIe 5.0 compatible motherboard, this is one of the most tangible ways to future-proof your system and take full advantage of Microsoft DirectStorage in modern titles.

Why we like this Crucial T710 2TB deal

Crucial has a knack for balancing enthusiast performance with long-term reliability. At under $290, you’re getting 2TB of the fastest consumer storage on the market, plus a free month of Adobe Creative Cloud—a nice perk if you’re a video editor or designer looking to offset the cost of the hardware.

Fast Gen5 Speeds

The headline here is clearly the speed. With up to 14,900 MB/s available on some capacities (and a rock-solid 14,500 MB/s on this 2TB model), the T710 is built for “hardcore” workloads. In gaming, this means assets stream into your GPU almost instantly, reducing stutter in expansive open-world games. For creators, working with raw 8K video footage becomes much more fluid, as the drive can keep up with massive bitrates without breaking a sweat.

Improved Efficiency and Thermals First-generation

Gen5 SSDs were notorious for running hot: they often required massive, active-cooled heatsinks. The T710 uses an updated controller and Micron’s G9 TLC NAND, which Crucial claims is significantly more power-efficient. This means it generates less heat per gigabyte transferred, making it easier to manage with your motherboard’s built-in M.2 shields or a low-profile heatsink, even in more compact desktop builds.

DirectStorage and Gaming Longevity

As we see more games utilize DirectStorage tech, the gap between Gen4 and Gen5 will only widen. The T710 is fully optimized for this, ensuring that as game developers lean harder on high-speed NVMe storage, your system won’t become the bottleneck. It also carries a healthy endurance rating of 1,200 TBW (Terabytes Written), so you can install and reinstall your 150GB AAA library without worrying about wearing out the drive anytime soon.

What to consider before you buy

The Crucial T710 is an absolute beast, but it’s a specialized tool. To see these 14GB/s+ speeds, you must have a motherboard and CPU that support PCIe Gen5 (like Intel’s recent 14th Gen/Core Ultra or AMD’s Ryzen 7000/9000 series). If you’re on an older Gen4 platform, the drive will still work, but it will be capped at half its potential speed, making it a poor value. Also, while this $289 price is a solid discount, PCIe 5.0 still carries a “tech tax” compared to the much cheaper Gen4 drives. But if you want the absolute best and have the hardware to support it, this is a great time to pull the trigger.
