Octa V1: innovation at all costs

Octa V1. This term probably doesn’t mean anything to you right now. And yet, it deserves our close attention. It’s the name of the first PC case from Swedish brand Olicus, and its goal is clear: to bring innovation back to the forefront.

Octa V1: the promise

It all starts with a simple observation: the current tech and hardware market is lacking inspiration. The big brands are no longer devoting as much energy to innovation as they used to, and a kind of statu quo is gradually taking hold . Successful designs are recycled until they are worn out. In short, gamers are bored.

That’s why a small team from the gaming world decided to found the Olicus brand and present their vision of the PC case. They gave it a unique appearance, backed by multiple airflow tests. Their goal was to optimize air circulation in the chassis as much as possible. They placed particular emphasis on the temperatures reached after long hours of intense operation. Where manufacturers often rely on short-term stress tests, they subjected their machine to sessions lasting several hours and studied the equilibrium temperatures.

The final shape of the chassis is the result of these studies. It provides multidirectional airflow (including from the rear) and an outlet at the top.

Octa V1: modding and repairability

  1. Olicus emphasizes the importance of user experience. The founders are gamers and want to build for gamers. As a result, the chassis has many advantages:
  • Magnetic aluminum panels (3 mm)
  • No rivets, each part is screwed or magnetized
  • Optional touchscreen
  • Dust filters with steel frames
  • Wide hardware compatibility

Octa V1: stay connected
Octa V1
For us, the arrival of this chassis on the market is a real promise of a return to creativity. Buyers are clamoring for it, and innovative products are very well received at the moment. Brands are taking note. We have seen several truly successful attempts in recent months. But large corporations are moving slowly and can no longer afford such long development times (more than four years for the Octa V1).

Looking at it, it seems that Olicus has picked up where Alienware left off with the Area 51 R2. We’re not complaining!

And the good news is that OCC will soon be able to tell you much more, as one of the prototypes will be arriving at our offices shortly. Live discovery, modding, feedback, and exclusive discussions with the creators : ask us your questions (on the OCC Discord) and we’ll pass them on.

In the meantime, check out the product page here.
