John Crawley stands firm to save Hampshire

07/14/2009

A combination of a typically flat Taunton pitch and Somerset’s inability to prise out John Crawley meant that, even though Hampshire had followed on, this match petered out into a dull draw. The former England batsman, whose one half-century this season had been made against Loughborough UCCE, scored 20 runs in the first session, 29 post-lunch and was still grafting away after tea, finishing unbeaten with 81 off 247 balls with eight fours.
